Metal-framed ceilings conceal mechanical, electrical and plumbing elements that require coordination, timing and communication that ADCO has the experience and expertise to handle.
What size of studs is used for drop ceilings?
We like to use the smallest stud possible to allow for the greatest plenum space for MEP runs. We carefully analyze deflection criteria, span tables and creative solutions to keep the finish ceiling at the desired height while providing maximum space above.
What gauge of stud should be used for walls?
In multi-family construction, as light as a gauge as possible should be used. Lighter gauge studs do have better acoustical properties, but this property should be balanced against other considerations. We can cross reference span tables, deflection criteria, and stud on center requirements to provide the best solution. For example, a 12’ high wall may be attainable with 25 gauge studs at 16” on center, but 20 gauge studs at 24” on center can still perform better acoustically because there is less surface area in contact with the gyp board.
